EGG SAVER NEST BOX TM
I have for sale the EGG SAVER NEST BOX TM for Standard and Bantams breeds. These boxes can help reduce the loss of eggs due to cannibalism by chickens. Chickens don't normally eat eggs but once an egg gets broken and they taste it they become addicted to it, and you'll start losing eggs very quickly. These boxes even help reduce egg loss to cats and dogs. Provided you've anchored it to something. They are great for free range chickens or in breeding pens where every egg is precious. I place these boxes all around my yard and in my pens and they have made a big difference in my egg production. These boxes come with a removable padded insert, I don't use them in the bantam boxes myself but you may wish to. The pad should always be used in the standard size box. The hens lay their eggs in the box and egg moves to the back safely behind a barrier. It is important to keep the box free of dirt and debris as this can keep the egg from moving to the back of the box. There are debris removal slots on the sides to help keep the debris out but it is recommended to check daily for any blockage. I've noticed that some chickens can be finicky about their boxes. Some like them facing a certain direction or like them up off the ground or even painted inside. The dimensions are: BANTAM 9.5"tall X 9" wide X 15.5"deep. STANDARD 12-7/8" tall 11-7/8" wide 18" deep. Made of #1, 1/2" plywood, 5 ply. This is a high quality, durable box and should last many years. If you live in a wet climate the box should be painted. The weight is approx. 8 LBS. for the bantam boxes and 12 LBS. for the standard boxes. I can't guarantee that these box will save every egg, but it can greatly increase your chances of salvaging eggs that would have otherwise been destroyed.
